Coming to DVD and On Demand this April is Catherine Scott’s life-affirming documentary BACKTRACK BOYS, hot off its national theatrical run and not losing momentum as it continues to make a name for itself.

Having won Best Documentary at the 2018 Melbourne International Film Festival and Sydney International Film Festival, plus a nomination for Best Documentary in the 2019 Australian Film Critics Association Award, BACKTRACK BOYS features the rough-talking, rule-breaking jackaroo, Bernie Shakeshaft, and the youth program he runs from a shed on the outskirts of Armidale, NSW. With the economic and social decline in rural Australia more young people are growing up in poverty. Disillusioned and neglected, many of them drop out of school, caught up with drugs and crime. When everyone else gives up on troubled kids like Rusty, Zach, and Alfie they head to Backtrack. It’s a place where they can feel safe, continue their education, get job training, but most importantly to pursue their dreams.

BACKTRACK BOYS has been met with universal acclaim and is one of the finest and inspiring documentaries to come from Australia in recent years. Umbrella Entertainment is proud to present this unique and moving story for Australian audiences – available in stores and online platforms April 3.
