Okay, so I just watched the Lilo & Stitch live-action remake and OMG—I have so many feelings.
At first, I wasn’t sure if I’d like it. The original is one of my all-time favourite movies. I’ve watched it like a million times with my sister, and we still say “Ohana means family” every time someone’s sad. So I was kinda scared they’d mess it up… but honestly? It was really good.
Lilo is played by this super cute and talented girl named Maia Kealoha, and she totally nailed it. Lilo still feels like that weird, sweet, misunderstood girl who just wants someone to love her. She made me cry a little, not gonna lie. I just wanted to give her a hug.
Stitch is SO cute! He’s still hilarious and chaotic in the best way. And he’s got the same voice as before, which made me so happy. Like, it actually felt like Stitch, not some fake version of him, and when he cried, I cried, no cap.
Nani, Lilo’s big sister, was awesome. You could tell how stressed she was trying to take care of Lilo, but still loving her no matter what. And Cobra Bubbles was kind of scary, but in a good way. Like, protective uncle vibes.
One thing that was kinda different was the aliens—Jumba and Pleakley. They looked more like humans this time (like a disguise or whatever) and not like their crazy alien selves. That part was a little weird for me, but it didn’t ruin anything. I still liked them.
They kept some of the old songs (YES to Elvis!), but also added new versions. There was this one cover of “Burning Love” that I’ve loved them putting it on repeat for the whole movie. And the new “Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride” gave me chills.
In the end, I actually cried a little. Not even ashamed. When Stitch said, “Ohana means family,” it hit me right in the heart. Like, this movie reminded me how much I love my family and my best friend (who I wish was watching it with me, btw).
If you loved the old movie, you’ll probably cry and smile, just like I did. It’s a little different, but the heart is still there. And if you’ve never seen Lilo & Stitch before? Go watch this one—it’s perfect for anyone who’s ever felt a little weird or alone.
My rating: 10/10.
So good. So emotional. And Stitch is still my literal fav alien ever.
