STAN Announce New Local Productions

Stan, Australia’s unrivalled home of original productions, today announced it is partnering with acclaimed Australian production company Roadshow Rough Diamond on a range of new Stan Original projects.

The partnership announcement comes as Stan continues to increase its investment into Australian television and film. The strategy will see Stan ramp up to deliver around 30% of its first-run slate from original productions.

Founded by Australian producers Dan and John Edwards and Roadshow Films, Roadshow Rough Diamond’s partnership with Stan will see brand new seasons of the record-breaking Stan Original Series Bump coming soon, with season two currently in production in Sydney. Claudia Karvan returns to star in the new season and will co-produce, alongside Dan and John Edwards. Stars Nathalie MorrisCarlos Sanson Jnr and Angus Sampson are also set to return, alongside the series’ stellar supporting cast.

Following the series’ unprecedented success with audiences and critics alike, Bump Season 3 will begin production in 2022.

Stan and Roadshow Rough Diamond are also partnering on other Stan Original projects, including Year Of and IronsideYear Of is a multi-generational drama spin-off from the highly successful Stan Original Series BumpIronside is a criminal drama inspired by the true story of the AFP’s use of the encrypted ANOM app to track and trap criminals.

Led by Claudia Karvan (Angie Davis), who also acts as producer, the second season of the record-breaking Stan Original Series Bump welcomes back stars Nathalie Morris (Oly Chalmers-Davis) and Carlos Sanson Jnr (Santiago ‘Santi’ Hernandez), alongside Angus Sampson (Dom Chalmers), Catalina Palma (Angel), Safia Arain (Reema), Paula Garcia (Rosa Hernandez), Ioane Saula (Vince Ingram), Christian Byers (Bowie Chalmers-Davis), Claudia de Giusti (Bernadita), Miguel Andrade (Alejandro) and Ricardo Scheihing Vasquez (Matias Hernandez).

Season two begins with Oly and Santi in a new place of hope and uncertainty. They’ve had a baby, fallen in love, moved in together and then back out; now they might even get to know each other. Just four-ish months into baby Jacinda’s life, both families are also about to deal with the fallout after Rosa discovers Angie and Matias’ transgression.

Oly will be caught between her big dreams and her very small, rather high maintenance and yet adorable reality. Santi will find his unexpected fatherhood is taking him back to losing his mother as a child, and the impact it’s had on him and his dad. He’ll learn on the job about good decisions and bad ones, and the kind of father he really wants to be. A newly free Angie will be torn between her feelings for Matias and her promise to Oly. Dom will get another shot, and Bowie comes home. Rosa will struggle between family and freedom and attempt to come to terms with Matias’ betrayal.

Season two sees the return of directors Geoff Bennett (Stan Original Series Wolf Creek) and Leticia Caceres (The True History of Billie the Kid), with Matthew Moore (The Great) and Jessica Tuckwell also directing. The series is created and co-written by Kelsey Munro, who is joined again by her season one writing team: Jessica Tuckwell, Timothy Lee, Mithila Gupta and Steven Arriagada, alongside Fernanda Penaloza.

Following the series’ unprecedented success with audiences and critics alike, Bump Season 3 will begin production in 2022.

The Stan Original Series Bump is produced by Roadshow Rough Diamond with major production investment from Screen Australia in association with Stan. Financed with support from Screen NSW. ITV Studios will manage international sales.

Year Of is set in and around the senior years of high school – exploring the liminal time between childhood and adulthood for the kids and the renegotiations with adults that it brings. Of course, the school and the teachers – we’ve already met in Bump. Young love and angst, humour and tragedy, rub against each other in a powerful mix. Roadshow Rough Diamond’s Dan and John Edwards are working alongside the talented writing team of Jessica Tuckwell and Kelsey Munro on the series.

IRONSIDE

Ironside is a criminal drama inspired by the extraordinary true story of the Australian Federal Police and FBI’s development and use of the encrypted ANOM app to track and trap international criminals. Roadshow Rough Diamond’s Dan and John Edwards are working hand-in-hand with acclaimed writer and director Gregor Jordan and Nine’s multi-Walkley award-winning journalist for 60 MinutesThe Age and The Sydney Morning Herald Nick McKenzie on the series.
