More than 50 museums spanning 23 countries have already confirmed their participation in SABATON’s unprecedented global museum initiative entitled “History Rocks”, which revolves around the worldwide premiere of the Swedish heavy metal band’s animated film, “The War To End All Wars – The Movie” this coming November.

As word of the project spreads, more and more museums are joining the participation list every day. Hitting the 50 mark was a milestone that was anticipated by the band from the very beginning, and this number is expected to rise significantly.

Thrilled with the news, SABATON’s bassist and band manager, Pär Sundström comments: “Our team has been working hard to investigate every single museum suggested by our followers via the form on our movie’s website. We have already secured more than 50 museums, including some of the biggest names in the museum sector. Some of them have even confirmed that they will have multiple showings of the film. It means a lot to know that people are on board and believe in this unique project, and this is only the beginning. We hope that fans will take the time to visit these museums and that the museums will receive more attention because of this project!”

MORE ABOUT THE “HISTORY ROCKS” PROJECT
Launched on June 12, 2023, “History Rocks” was developed to assist museums across the globe with gaining visibility and garnering support from a new and untapped audience of heavy metal fans. Ensuring museums are coping in a somewhat challenging climate is a personal mission of each band member.

Elaborating on this, Pär declares: “I’ve spoken to multiple museums who have expressed that they are struggling because of a decrease in footfall. This news did not sit right with us, and as a band, we felt that we needed to do something. That’s where “The War To End All Wars – The Movie” came into the picture and how we developed this unusual idea, that I’m not sure has been done before. Our mission is to reignite peoples’ interest in visiting these incredible treasure troves of history and truly connect with the happenings of the past.”

Upon launch of this project, SABATON reached out to their international followers, encouraging them to suggest their local museums. They were astonished to receive thousands upon thousands of suggestions from people spanning the globe. All suggestions were submitted via the official “The War To End All Movies – The Movie” website.

The “History Rocks” participation list is growing day by day and can be viewed here.

Following years of hard work and research, the Swedish heavy metal band has created “The War To End All Wars – The Movie” in partnership with Yarnhub, an animation studio focused on historical content. This is a 67-minute long animated musical motion picture which is being released in English but will be made available with subtitles in a number of languages to cater to audiences around the world.

The film vividly tells the World War 1 tales from Sabaton’s most recent studio album, The War To End All Wars – The Movie.

Referring to the movie, Lora Vogt, National, Vice President of Education and Interpretation, from the WWI Museum and Memorial (Kansas, US) declares: “Certainly, there is artistic licence taken in the movie, but what I found so extraordinary was the team’s choice of stories. What a wonderful vehicle Sabaton has made to show the diversity of individuals and engagements of the war. Really fantastic! We look forward to sharing it with our audiences.”
