Gina Stojanovski is the owner of a boutique acting agency dedicated to providing the best possible service to her actors. Her attention to detail and unique work ethic has garnered a strong working relationship with top industry professionals in Australia and in the US. We caught up with Gina ‘Stoj’ to learn about the ins and outs of her job, why it was her calling and what you might’ve seen some of her clients in.
“It wasn’t where I started or where I thought I would end up,” Gina says when she is asked how she started out in the industry. “I was working full time as a secretary in the medical field. I was also a part time stage mother to my son Jason. I learned the tricks of the trade through that. Jason is really the one who encouraged me to start it. I thought I would try it in a very, very small capacity but that wasn’t meant to be – and here we are!”
Gina laughs when she is asked why management was her chosen occupation in the film and television industry. “I guess being a natural born control freak is a skill – ha! – and I think most actors love someone taking over the boring and fiddly stuff. Looking for gigs is a big job, so I don’t blame them – and I love doing that. I enjoy setting up those times for them, and all the organizational stuff that comes with it.”
She again laughs when asked what shows her clients have appeared on and whether or not she watches all of the shows. “Many of the US network tv shows like NCIS, Dear White People, Criminal Minds, New Amsterdam, Westworld, Blue Bloods, Grey’s Anatomy… just to name a few. Oh gosh – I can’t possibly watch all the shows my actors are in. I certainly do see their scenes and yes, when It does come up on TV, I’ll try tune in. I’m usually mega proud.
“I’m the ringmaster here, and like to run the show,” says Gina when she asked how many staff she has working for her. “Yes, it involves a lot of travel, late nights and long phone calls but being a perfectionist and as passionate as I am about my work, I love being the one behind the control panel. When people sign up with Gina Stoj management, they’re going to get Gina Stoj!”
