If you are a fan of movies and television then chances are you have seen actor Michael Ecklund on your screen at some time. From playing a demon in Wynonna Earp to playing a chilling serial killer as a nemesis for Halle Berry in The Call. HEAVY Mag was recently lucky enough to sit down and chat to Michael as he prepares to appear at Oz Comic-Con.
“This is my first time in Australia,” he says with a laugh when we begin talking about what it is like to be here for the convention. “It has been on my bucket list for a long time to come here and it is great to be at a convention that is really heating up. A lot of my friends have come out here and done it and then have raved about it… it’s a big deal. I’m just really excited to be here.”
That leads me to ask whether or not he will get the opportunity to look around the convention and also around the cities that he is visiting. “I’m hoping to do both. One of the advantages of being able to do this as a career is to be able to explore, not just all the tourist things but to also get involved with the culture for the few days that I am here. When I am at the conventions though I am a fan as well. I am a fan of a lot of people and there a lot of things going on so I will probably geek out myself. Right now is such a great time for TV. That bridge between TV and film really narrowed and there is just so much out there. The amount of content out there makes it hard to keep up with everything.”
In the full interview with Michael on Spotify you can hear him talk about some of his most iconic roles and what it is like to play the bad guy on screen.
You can catch Michael this weekend at Oz Comic-Con Sydney.
