League of Legends is the world’s biggest PC game with millions of players across the globe including a significant Australian fan base. On July 17th, League officially launched the first key patch for Teamfight Tactics, a new in-game auto-battler, which was launched in Beta mode earlier this month and received a huge positive response from League fans around the globe. See link: here. This first patch will introduce the Ranked Queue, allowing players to compete online to showcase their skills.
Teamfight Tactics is a round-based strategy game that pits the player against seven opponents in a free-for-all race to build a powerful team that fights on your behalf. The goal – be the last person standing.
This new game mode sees players match their League Champions against others on a kind of chess board. Similar to the main League game, players need to plan and use their champions strategically in order to win, placing the Champions on the board and then watching them automatically battling it out against the opposing team, until the last Champion left on the board is crowned the winner.
In line with the official launch of ranked, a Teamfight Tactics Twitch Rivals global competition has been announced with a prize pool of USD $125k. Two Aussies will be taking part in the Rivals competition – Midbeast and Ash on LoL – hoping to take out the crown and the significant cash prize.
The new game also introduces Little Legends – a group of super cute characters that function as the player’s avatar and cheer on their Champions. These little critters are also at the centre of every interaction with the other players in the game.
Teamfight Tactics is the first major release from Riot outside of the MOBA genre and is creating buzz amongst the existing League communities. New audiences gain an easier access point to learning about the League Champions, developing great strategic game skills… so even those that are new to the LoL gaming scene can thrive in TFT.
